QUIXTAR ANNOUNCES RECORD ANNUAL SALES OF $1.1 BILLION; HEALTH & BEAUTY PRODUCTS FUEL GROWTH

 

 

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct. 21, 2004 –  Quixtar Inc. reported today that Independent Business Owners (IBOs) powered by the company’s Quixtar’s I-commerce business model generated record sales of $1.1 billion for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 2004, up $65 million from the previous year.  In addition, IBOs generated created $68.5 million in revenues for Quixtar’s online Partner Stores and Services, up $10.2 million from fiscal 2003.  For their business efforts, IBOs earned more than $373 million in bonuses and incentives, up $30 million from the previous year.

“We’re certainly pleased with the financial results of the past fiscal year, but the biggest success belonged to IBOs who achieved record growth,” said Ken McDonald, Managing Director of Quixtar. “We’re excited they were IBOs earnedable to earn a record number of bonuses and incentives this year, and we’re committed to helping them take it to a new level, and .  Wwe continue to look for new products to enhance their businesses and to help them attract younger and more diverse audiences IBOs and customers..

Innovative product launches by Quixtar’s exclusive brandsled Sales increases in 2004growth in 2004,  are attributed to strong performances for new products exclusive to Quixtar, including introductions ofArtistry® Time Defiance® Intensive Repair Serum, the Tolsom skin care for men line, and the clear.now™ acne skin care system. Further, Quixtar also created a new focus on sports nutrition, led by the launch of  several new XS™ Power Nutrition products were launched, strengthening the brand’s position as, Quixtar’s sales leader based on units purchased and overall sales volume.

 “Our product focus will be to build on the strong momentum we saw this year in our health and beauty segments,” said Randy Bancino, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “We’ve achieved significant results with our XS Power Nutrition products, which open the door to oursupport our industry leadership through  broad line of Nutrilite® supplements and other top health products like the eSpring® Water Purifier and iCook™ Cookware. We’ll continue this focus on wellness In in the upcoming year, we will see some great new offerings, particularly in weight managementparticularly as we launch a new weight management program.”

Another major accomplishment for the company this year was the complete redesign and relaunch of Quixtar.com“With a User-Centered Design approach, we were able to greatly enhance the Quixtar site experience,” said Heather Anderson, Quixtar’s CIO.

“We’re now in Phase II of our redesign effort, adding new features and functionality to a site that already is miles ahead of where it was a few months ago.  The goal is to make shopping and running a business using the Quixtar platform as easy as possible,” she said.  “We’d rather have IBOs out making connections with people than trying to connect with us online.”

Among other significant milestones for the company in fiscal 2004 were:

Ø      Ranked #1 in online Health and Beauty sales by Internet Retailer and 12th overall for e-commerce sales.

Ø      The launch of new Partner Stores including Barnes & Noble.com, eToys, Elisabeth.com, Joann.com, Circuit City, The Golf Warehouse, and BluSphere.

Ø      Single-day sales records of $11 million set in March and $12 million set Aug. 31, the final day of fiscal 2004.

Ø      The redesign of Quixtar.com, the company’s Web site that offers shopping, ordering, and business management tools for IBOs and their customers.

Ø      The launch of Quixtar Para Ti, the initiative that has helped increase sales through Hispanic IBOs by 50 percent.

Ø      Sponsorship of Easter Seals in the U.S. and Canada, including Title Sponsorship of that organization’s “Walk With Me” fundraising events.  During fiscal 2004, Quixtar and IBOs contributed more than $820,000 to Easter Seals.
